Before we turn the page on 2009, here’s a quick wrap up about some of the news stories that captured my attention:
- Biggest news story – President Obama takes office.
- Most profound losses – Walter Cronkite and Don Hewit
- Breakthrough YouTube Performance – Susan Boyle “I Dreamed a Dream”
In my business, two of my best finds on the Internet to help me grow my business this year were:
- Best resource to help me and others build better blogs – Darren Rowse at ProBlogger.
- Best discovery to enhance my online business – Info Product Guy James Roche
My proudest contribution to the marketplace in 2009:
- I brought to market the Bye-Bye Boring Bio Action Guide in September and have since earned glowing reviews and sales from business owners all over the world. This product has only begun to make the difference for others that is possible. If you’ve written a rock star bio with this guide as your tool of choice, send in your finished bio. I’ll gladly blog about it! If you are a member of a group that needs guidance about how to tell a story so the right people will listen, invite me to speak. If you are a fan of the product, I’d be honored for you to advocate to others about it as a proud member of my affiliate program. Then, when your colleagues buy, you earn generous sales commissions. If you are a member of a direct sales organization, professional association, or other fabulous group and would like to inquire about quantity purchases or licensing agreements, let’s talk! The mission is to banish boring bios forever with the Bye-Bye Boring Bio Action Guide leading the charge. I can’t wait to see the magic that manifests for all along this journey!
I’ve been thinking a bit about trends and what to expect for 2010. Last year, I offered a few ideas in this regard with a few of my colleagues/friends at this post. As for me, I stand by my comments from last year. If you have comments about what is in or out for 2010, please comment!
No matter what the new year brings, may you be surrounded by others who lift you higher. May you be inspired to achieve great things, doing what you most love to do. May you be lucky enough — as I am — to share your life with an amazing partner. Quoting from Julie Powell in “Julie and Julia” — which was my favorite movie for 2009 — Steve, you are the butter to my bread and the breath to my life.
Happy New Year, one and all.
What a great year it has been! I think this year we’ll see people continuing to be wise with their money even though the economy is improving. Things of value will still be bought, but excess for the sake of excess will still be out. Living within our means – who would have guessed we would ever do that?!
My proudest accomplishment this year has been saving over half our income for our upcoming trip around the world. It totally changed our lives in a fantastic way, and I’m excited to see the result of our efforts when we take off for Ecuador in October.
Happy new year to you, Nancy. And thank you for all your wise advice in helping us grow our personal goals into the Married with Luggage brand. We couldn’t have done it without you!
ahh…. thanks for this again, Nancy. I would add:

My proudest contribution: Coaching elected officials in our state from breakdown to breakthrough – all of which are now better communicators, leaders and mentors.
My greatest accomplishment: The release of my 52 Exquisite Self-care tips for the Professional women, complete with workbook and audio. This came from years of working with women who didn’t know how to truly take exquisite care, more than eating well and exercise, it’s about the whole woman we were each created to be. Stepping boldly into that place. Love this new work!
My most humbling moment: Acknowledging that I was not having any fun come about September. I was tired, blue, a bit annoyed with everything around me and just not my best. AND the very best thing I did for me in that space was to claim it and name it…I was muddling. For those that know me as the eternal optimist, to not be full of happy, happy, joy, joy everyday was really something. It was humbling to state the words that I was just OK, even muddling through as I journeyed to find inner clarity. I simply allowed myself to be in that space, not pushing, just sitting with it until I got my breakthrough.
My biggest OOPS of the year: I blew up my website before it’s time – and my email went with it. Yes, there is something to the notion of being “careful what buttons we push”, that exists in the technology realm too. What it taught me, I must begin to let go and delegate more. No more time do I have to devote to the technology ins and outs, there are people who are far more skilled than I who I would gladly give those tasks to.
My greatest WIN: I finally figured out my Lane! No more getting distracted, which leads to fatigue and lack of fun. I am stepping fully into the lane that I know I was created for and embracing it boldly. I am Speaker. I love to speak to groups of all sizes, giving inspiration, motivation, shifting perspective and challenging assumptions while conquering limiting beliefs and mindsets. Yes I am a coach and I do that very well, and when I looked at what I love (calculated the fun factor) multiplied that with ability to generate business, speaking won hands down.
From a world perspective: In 2010 I believe (hope) we will see a heavy dose of ‘reality check’ going on. In an effort to trust more, people will question more and that’s a good thing.
Additionally, I think we will see the world of Twitter, Facebook, Youtube expand another year before it begins to contract. I believe at some level people will want to have real-time, face-time, interactive engagements and will move away from the technology. Of course, I will be there Tweeting and Facebooking all the details!
Happy New Year! Happy New Decade!
Hellooooo 2010! I had fantastic year in ’09 – I grew, I stretched and I came through it a better person, and practitioner.
I became the resource to those I love to serve the most. I learned that gratitude can be a state of being that profoundly affects your life. I learned that letting something BIG go in my business created a space for something better and more appropriate to come in. I came to understand I have a team of people who are committed to helping me succeed. And I came to appreciate vulnerability creates strength in the way others see me.
What’s in for 2010
Selflessness
Gratitude
No Limits
Here’s to the success of all!
