December 1 I celebrated another birthday, and as I look around at my life, I’m struck by something both hilarious and profound:
I am still tattoo-free after all these years, but nearly everything else about my life has been rewritten.
Not suddenly. Not all at once. Not in a movie-montage kind of way. But through deliberate re-calibration, one brave choice at a time.
That re-calibration began after coming out victorious from a breast cancer diagnosis in 2022. When the doctor asked about placing tattoos on my body to help navigate the treatment, I asked for another way to get the job done. He gladly obliged.
(There is another big lesson around asking for what you want and getting it that I’ll leave for another time.)
My re-calibration process asked me to reevaluate everything: my pace, my energy, my priorities, my messaging, my work, my relationships, my joy. And I learned something that will probably resonate with you:
It takes time to turn a ship around, especially when you’ve been sailing in one direction for a long time.
You don’t just flip a switch. You realign your systems. You renegotiate your boundaries. You rethink what matters and let go of what doesn’t. You update your message to match the conversation you’re actually meant to lead now. You re-choose your own truth. And you do it scared while real life continues to unfold.
The Love Your Business Love Your Life Inner Circle that I’ve been joyfully leading for each of the last three years and a circle of wise, generous truth tellers helped me walk this path with purpose.
Here’s what that re-calibration has created — slowly, steadily, beautifully:
I’m still joyfully married to the love of my life. We celebrated 38 years in September, and we are still laughing, growing, and choosing each other.
Our son is on track to earn his PhD in analytical chemistry by year’s end, while graduating without a penny of student debt.
I’m surrounded by friendships that feel like treasure. These are the friends and family members who circle the wagons when asked and when it really counts.
We’ve said yes to adventures.
We adopted a puppy who is a full-time joy generator.
And we moved to our dream home in sunny and warm Tucson, Arizona complete with baby grand piano — mortgage-free — a daily reminder of alignment.
This year I was hired to serve as a VIP faculty expert for two organizations. Lessons learned from the first assignment are setting the stage for an even more powerful and lasting contribution to the new assignment.
I’ve influenced five figures in charitable giving to the cause closest to my heart.
And somehow I’ve also appeared on nearly every JV leader board for the launches I supported for referred opt ins and referred sales so far this year.
And yes… I am lean, fit, and strong, even while navigating another confronting health issue.
But let me tell you the truth beneath the highlight reel:
Re-calibration is not glamorous. It’s not linear. It’s not instant.
There were mornings I woke up questioning who am I now that everything is changing?
There were days where I questioned the pace. The path. The whole yellow brick road. Turning a ship, especially one that has been sailing a long time, requires patience, courage, and a willingness to trust the horizon before you can see it clearly. But oh… what waits on the other side.
Clarity. Ease. Confidence. Inner peace. A life and business that match who you are now, not who you used to be. If you feel that tug inside… that whisper that your next chapter wants to emerge…I want to personally invite you to something beautiful:
