ob-cx264_career_d_20090105170937Always on the lookout for new media placement opportunities that are a fit for my clients and for you, I was happy to see a new column in the Career Journal section of the Wall Street Journal entitled “How I Got Here — Tales from the Career Ladder.”

Dennis Nishi wrote today’s piece about Seth Tibbott’s journey to invent and bring to market Tofurkey as founder and president of Turtle Island Foods. The introduction to today’s story reads, “Ascending the career ladder is a different experience for everyone.  This new column, “How I Got Here,” looks at individual climbs and the lessons learned along the way.” If you think your career ladder has been particularly interesting and the lessons learned would add value for the readers of the Wall Street Journal, why not make your pitch? Send it to cjeditor@dowjones.com.   I sure as heck have a few great ideas for stories I think he’ll like.   Be sure to read the story about Tibbott so you have a good sense of what this feature is all about so you can pitch your ideas to be a perfect fit to serve the readers and your own storytelling interests.  And keep reading the feature so you can demonstrate that you are paying attention.  Your DIY publicity efforts are often rewarded when you see, hear and celebrate the reporters with the responsibility for bringing you the news.
