Mikelann Valterra, founder of the Women’s Earning Institute, is a colleague, friend, author, and expert who is fiercely committed to helping women overcome underearning. She is quoted extensively in this article about how to ask for a raise in a down economy, and this is news you can use — now more than ever. If you struggle with under earning, you may want to check out Mikelann’s telecourse on how to conquer it once and for all. You can read more about it at this link.
When I started my business in 2001, I struggled with under earning and took some of Mikelann’s workshops. I still remember Mikelann describing the three typical buckets in which women find themselves. There is the “noble poverty” bucket. Here you lament that there has never been enough money, there never will be enough money, but at least the work you are doing is important.
The “prince charming is going to charge in and rescue me” bucket speaks for itself.
The third bucket is the abundance bucket, in which you believe that there is plenty of abundance out there and plenty enough for you.
Somewhere along the line, I made a huge leap from noble poverty to abundance, and I haven’t looked back. I thank Mikelann for the inspiration and the tools to deploy for much of my progress. You can make progress in that regard, too, if you avail yourself to her wisdom and her fabulous, high value courses. Both have certainly worked well for me.
