Alexis Meisel, owner of Zook Hooks Inc., called me on Friday with happy news. Dan Voelpel, business columnist for the Tacoma News Tribune, wrote a wonderful story about her company that creates purse hangers that keep handbags off the floor and away from nasty germs, while adding a bit of bling at the same time. She said she received 16 orders by 10 a.m. that day! I am sure even more activity flowed over the weekend, and I can’t wait to learn the details when Alexis updates me later this morning. My hat is off to Dan for writing an engaging article that just might have the potential to capture Oprah’s attention. Dan did some background research to find out what Oprah carries in her handbag, and he suggested that she should add a Zook Hook from Alexis Meisel’s company to the bounty. Given how carefully the producers at the Oprah Winfrey Show scout the Internet for story ideas, Alexis’ Zook Hooks just might earn the attention they deserve. That, my friends, will be an “alert the media” moment for sure!
